It is a little odd to go out to dinner on the night after Thanksgiving when there are plenty of good leftovers in the refrigerator at home, or so I thought. The restaurants on Market Square were full of happy patrons on Friday night, my family included.
My wife and son inquired at two or three restaurants while I was working in the WNOX booth at the Regal Celebration of Lights. I would meet them after 7:00 p.m. The hostess at one establishment said she was supposed to tell customers it would be an hour and forty-five minute wait. Then she said that it might be less.
Not Watson’s Kitchen + Bar got our business because the anticipated wait time was much shorter and because they took down my wife’s cell phone number and called her when a table was ready.
She ordered a Good Morning Burger on a gluten-free bun. I had a Carpetbagger Burger served atop a salad, which I liked very much.
Our son enjoyed chicken and waffles as we reminisced about his childhood memories of going to Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles in Southern California in the 1990s. The Hollywood location is most famous but we generally went to the Pasadena location for ease of parking.
