The Answer that You’ll Endorse
Drosselmeyer is an American Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the 2010 Belmont Stakes. Trace back his bloodline and you’ll find Golden Ballet, Moscow Ballet, Nijinsky and Northern Dancer.
The equine Drosselmeyer is named after Herr Drosselmeyer, the toymaker and magician from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. In the ballet, he is the character who gives the nutcracker to his goddaughter Clara and fixes it when her brother Fritz breaks it.
The Oak Ridge Civic Ballet Association released the cast list for this year’s production of The Nutcracker. Since 2011, I have played the part of The Governor. This year I will play Drosselmeyer.
The full-length performances of The Nutcracker will be on Saturday, November 22 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 23 at 2:00 p.m. I hope you’ll come see the show.
