Camping Out

Zeke Piestrup worked his way up from the bottom at KROQ. When I worked there, he was a promotions assistant. He would drive the van to events, hang banners and hand out prizes. He later got an on-air shift, focusing on local music.
Like several other KROQ deejays in the 1990s, Zeke got hired by MTV Networks. He had a show on VH-1. I didn’t keep track of where he went next. I now see that he’s had a very successful career in the music industry.

I’m a fan of Mental Floss. I read their tweets daily and often click through to read the article they are promoting. One day last week, I saw Zeke’s name in one of their tweets. I also recognized the name of the late Harold Camping. KROQ deejays Kevin & Bean used to call Camping regularly as a morning show bit.

The article describes Zeke’s documentary about Camping’s prediction that the world would end on October 21, 2011. The trailer looks fascinating. I’m inspired to find the movie online and watch it.
