The Ice Bucket Challenge has been a great success for the ALS Association. They have received millions of dollars more in donations than during the same time period last summer. To donate toward medical research, click here.
My friend Krisha Newport of Q100.3 challenged me along with two others. In turn, I challenged three people: Paul Simmons of Einstein Simplified; Jenny Collins of the Oak Ridge Civic Ballet Association; and Sam Cann of East Tennessee PBS.
In my video, I poked fun at the self-promotion angle of the challenge but I also mentioned two colleagues who died from ALS. Sheila Nolan worked in sales at WAVA until contracting the disease. Her husband would bring her by the station for a visit even after she could no longer walk or speak. Rhonda Kenner worked in sales at WRMX & WTXM when I did mornings there. Rhonda died in 2011.
