Money Changes Everything

Eddie Money was the headliner at the Secret City Festival in Oak Ridge on Friday night. Classic Hits 93.1 WNOX, CROET, Pro2Serve and UCOR sponsored the concert. I had the privilege of doing the stage introduction right before Eddie started.

Local favorites Jada Blade opened the show. Eddie’s son’s band, Dez Money and the Faze, were on next. Eddie surprised those of us backstage by grabbing a microphone and doing the stage introduction for them. His daughter Jesse sings with Dez and with Eddie on tour.

Before he went on, Eddie and I chatted briefly about KLOS and WAVA. We talked about the Mark & Brian Christmas Show and about the Bobby Poe Convention, which brought back some vivid memories for Eddie.

His set was a real crowd-pleaser. He opened with one of his biggest hits, “Baby Hold On.” They audience, my wife and I included, sang along during the chorus.

Eddie is passionate about helping wounded soldiers. He sang a new song called “One More Soldier Coming Home.” Proceeds from sales of the song benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
