The Fig Chill

Locals refer to the current cold snap as “dogwood winter.” The area’s dogwood trees are in full bloom yet the temperature dipped below freezing on Tuesday night.

As you can see, some leaves have sprouted on my fledgling fig tree since I pruned it ten days ago. I wanted to make sure the leaves were protected, so I rushed home between work and the Einstein Simplified show to throw a tarp over the tree.
