Cashdance

The sixth annual Star 102.1’s Dancing with the Knoxville Stars was a tremendous success, raising $128,752 for East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. The totals keep growing every year. In 2009, the first edition of the event raised $27,674, which exceeded all expectations at the time.

The show featured a combination of serious dance routines and some that were played for laughs. I loved the quickstep performed by Carly Harrington of the News Sentinel and her professional partner Johnny Tang. Jonathan JJ Jones of WBIR and Taryn Escobar took the comedic path with a very funny routine that included a cameo appearance by Knox County Sheriff Jimmy JJ Jones. The winning dance routine by Olympic gold medalist Davis Tarwater and Rachel Henriquez was funny but also had some excellent dance moves.

Courtney Fulmer Peace and her professional partner Hayden Escobar won the fundraising trophy. Designer Wolfgang Schaber and Dance Tonight co-owner Emily Norris were second in fundraising. My wife and I split our donation among several teams that impressed us with their dancing.

One Response to Cashdance

  1. How is it possible that each year is a fresh new show? I’m so impressed with the local professional dancers.
I would like to that all the hair and makeup professionals who worked with me this year. Vada Helton, Lauren Handel, Sonja Corvette, Heather Nolan, Ella Nolan, and our assistants from TSB. Joyce Frye and Katy for help during costume changes and K. B. Lowe for photography.
Every year is fun and exhilarating. See you next year…..
