Advertising of a Confessions Man

When the receptionist at the radio station asked the two priests what they needed, they joked that they were there to give me last rites. In reality, Fr. David and Fr. Joe were there to voice a radio commercial. I engineered the recording session.

In a bold and exciting move, Sacred Heart Cathedral purchased a small advertising schedule to urge Catholics to go to confession on Ash Wednesday. I think it’s bold because Catholics make up only a tiny percentage of the population in East Tennessee. Many non-Catholics don’t accept the biblical reasons for confession.

The sixty-second spot paraphrases several of Pope Francis’ reasons to go to confession. The overall message is good for Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
