Ted Hall was an extremely popular news anchor on WBIR-TV when he left Knoxville eight years ago. That’s when he took a job in a top-ten market at WXIA-TV in Atlanta. When he renewed his contract in Atlanta two years ago, he knew he wanted to move away at the end of the term. At the time, he didn’t realize that he would end up coming home to East Tennessee.
Starting Monday, Ted will co-anchor the 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. newscasts on WVLT-TV. The move means that Alan Williams will co-anchor the 5:00 p.m. newscast. They will each work alongside Amanda Hara.
Ted and Alan visited WNOX this past week. I interviewed them on the Classic Hits 93,1 Celebrity Couch. I was impressed by Ted’s openness about his reasons for leaving Atlanta. I played highlights of the interview on the radio and posted the whole conversation on YouTube.
