Members of the Nashville chapter of the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association had a good idea. What if all three Tennessee chapters joined together to distribute child identification kits on the same day, at similar events on the same day?
On Saturday, the Nashville chapter will distribute ID kits during Ghouls at Grassmere at the Nashville Zoo; the Memphis chapter will distribute ID kits during Zoo Boo at the Memphis Zoo; and the Knoxville chapter will distribute kits during Boo at the Zoo at the Knoxville Zoo.
At our meeting on Monday, Holly Folsom of the Nashville chapter delivered a proclamation from Governor Bill Haslam. It reads:
By Bill Haslam, Governor on behalf of the people of Tennessee
By virtue of the authority vested in me, I hereby confer upon
FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association
Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville
for their efforts to distribute identification kits to help protect Tennessee’s children
A Day of Recognition
given under my hand and the Great Seal of the State of Tennessee
in Nashville, this twenty-sixth day of October 2013
The plan has been in the works for some time. Six months ago, the president of the Nashville chapter arranged for a state Senate proclamation that declares this Saturday to be “Tennessee Child ID Awareness Day.”
