The cable company offered me the chance to upgrade my DVR when I reduced my cable service. I took them up on it and have been getting accustomed to the X1 Platform. The new machine can record four shows at once, the old DVR could only record two. The X1’s OnDemand feature also works better than its ancestor. Its menu looks more like Netflix, with a photo tile for each movie or series.
My wife and I considered trying Netflix or Amazon Prime Instant Video. I signed up for a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime but I will not extend it. I haven’t been wowed by the selection and I was disappointed that they wouldn’t let me pay for the prime subscription with a gift card I received from my son.
