Sandy Weaver is one of the best deejays I’ve ever heard. I used to tune in weeknights at 10:00 p.m. to hear her on Q107 in Washington, DC. She was on after a jock named Uncle Johnny. Either Johnny or Sandy would count down the ten most requested songs of the day. Many of those same songs are now on the playlist at Classic Hits 93.1 WNOX.
When WAVA hired Sandy to host the midday shift, I had the pleasure of working with her every day. I’ve kept up with Sandy over the years. She’s now in Atlanta and owns her own business called Voicework on Demand.
When I wanted to have some promos produced for WNOX, I thought of Sandy. She sounds the same as she did 33 years ago. It’s a thrill for me to hear her voice on the air in Knoxville, even if it is for only 30 or 40 seconds every couple of hours.
