There was a specific type of laminated prayer card that my wife was seeking at the National Shrine gift shop. She had promised to bring one home for someone in Tennessee.

While she browsed through the collection of cards, I saw some Pope Francis items that were obviously new since my last visit, exactly three years earlier.

After I photographed some refrigerator magnets and other souvenirs with the Pope’s image, my smartphone buzzed. Google Goggles, which doesn’t promise to identify faces, had still managed to recognize the Pope.
