Fall-Out Zone

One of the highlights of Remote Area Medical’s Salute to Service Day¬†on Saturday was a flyover and parachute jump. It was actually two flyovers and about twelve parachutists jumping.

While it looked picturesque from the ground, I couldn’t imagine ever trying it. I heard one spectator ask why anyone would jump from a perfectly good airplane. I’ve heard the quote many times before and a sentiment I believe. Apparently it’s from the movie “Point Break.”

One of the skydivers had a canister of red smoke. I think it was supposed to make a smoke trail in the air but I didn’t notice it until he was on the ground. One guy came in too fast and overshot the target. He landed on his feet and his momentum took him and his chute into the middle of the Jericho Highlanders Bagpipe Band, who had performed earlier.
