The Knoxville Turkish Cultural Center invited the FBI Knoxville Citizens Academy Alumni Association to dinner. I took pictures of the delicious food but I don’t know what any of it is called. The ingredients included tomatoes, peppers, onions and ground beef. Our hosts were excited about sharing their cuisine with us. The Cultural Center periodically offers cooking classes and demonstrations.
Before dinner, we watched a video about Turkey which included footage of many places mentioned in the Bible. We learned that our hosts followed the teachings of Fethullah Gülen, who is described as a Turkish scholar, preacher, thinker, author, opinion leader, education activist, and peace advocate. Gülen was chosen as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People this year. He is known for saying that “a Muslim cannot be a terrorist, nor can a terrorist be a true Muslim.”
