During the great power outage of Super Bowl XLVII, I wished that CBS would have spent less time showing their announcers and more time showing what was happening behind them in the Superdome. We could see some members of the Baltimore Ravens Stunt Team high in the air over James Brown’s shoulder.
Because my cousin’s daughter is a Ravens cheerleader, I’ve watched a couple of videos of the girls being propelled into the air by their male teammates. I didn’t realize until yesterday that the Ravens have the only co-ed cheerleading team in the NFL. I guess I assumed that some of the other franchises also had collegiate-style coed cheerleaders.
“CBS This Morning” ran a nice feature on the male cheerleaders, focusing on Tony Martin, who is retiring at the end of the season. It’s great that his last game was a Ravens victory in the Super Bowl.
