Jenna Fischer was a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” the other night. She told a great anecdote about her first Hollywood job. She was an extra on the TV commercial for Jurassic Park: The Ride at Universal Studios.
Toward the end of the interview, Jenna said she would be traveling to St. Louis for Christmas. Jimmy mentioned that his fiancée is from St. Louis and that he has been there several times recently. When Jenna said she loves Imo’s Pizza, Jimmy said it was the worst pizza in the world. I have to agree with Jimmy.
Imo’s (and many other Italian restaurants in St. Louis) use a nasty cheese called Provel. Jimmy said it was like the provolone version of Velveeta. Rather than upset a whole city, Jimmy quickly named several of the best foods in St. Louis, including Ted Drewes Frozen Custard and Pappy’s Smokehouse. I’ve been to both places. They’re great.
The Provel debate has been going on for years. If you’re visiting St. Louis, my advice is to avoid Provel and order the toasted ravioli. That’s something we can all agree is delicious. Jenna and Jimmy’s conversation about St. Louis starts at 2:11 in this video:
