Cyndy Wills said that some of the dancers’ costumes might look familiar to me. My wife and I happened to see Cyndy backstage last week at the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra’s Clayton Holiday Concert. Two of Cyndy’s kids are members of Go! Contemporary Danceworks. For their performance during Natalee McReynolds’ rendition of “Toyland,” the troupe rented some of the same toy soldier costumes as the Oak Ridge Civic Ballet Association did.
Cyndy and I were both in ORCBA’s production of “The Nutcracker.” She played Frau Stahlbaum. I made a guest appearance as the Governor. Last month, my wife purchased a copy of each of my two performances from M&M Productions. Our two Nutcracker DVDs arrived in the mail Thursday. We watched the party scene that night.
ORCBA’s Spring show will be “Once Upon a Time” and scenes from “Paquita.” Cyndy said there’s a comedic role that I should consider. She also suggested I see the next Go! Contemporary Danceworks production, “Unsung Heroes – the Women of World War II” at the Bijou Theatre in February.
