Chocolate Reign

Vinnie, one of the receipt checkers at Sam’s Club, asked for a favor. It turned out to be easy and enjoyable to do. I went shopping for chocolate.

Joy Hamlett and her husband own Bradley’s, a chocolate shop that expanded to also sell gifts and decorations. Not long ago, they moved to a new storefront, across Peters Road from their previous location. Joy is Vinnie’s daughter. Vinnie was also very proud that the Hamletts recently purchased the South’s Finest Chocolate Factory on World’s Fair Park Drive.

When I first walked into Bradley’s, I was impressed by the Christmas ornaments and other decorations that I thought my wife would like. Before long, I focused on a platter of chocolates labeled “caramel marshmallows.” They reminded me of my favorite treat from See’s Candies, the Scotchmallow. Joy said that customers have told her that Bradley’s chocolates are reminiscent of See’s.

Like Sam’s Club, Bradley’s offered free samples. I tried some chocolate-covered popcorn and some flavored coffee. The chocolate-covered Oreos looked good but I decided to purchase two caramel marshmallows and two maple creams to share with my wife on St. Nicholas Day. On a future visit, I would like to try a chocolate-covered pretzel, which they call Tennessee Walking Sticks.
