The Breast and Brightest

Leanne Morgan said yes! I barely have two open-mic nights under my belt and now I’m booked to open for an honest-to-goodness professional comedian in three weeks.

When I was asked for ideas for a Junior League event called Comedy and Cocktails, I boldly said I could open for Leanne with the same six minutes of material I will use for the Host with the Most Competition on October 21. My idea was approved by the Junior League, who then ran it past Leanne. She also gave me the thumbs up. Comedy and Cocktails will be at the Knoxville Convention Center on November 1.

Pink Ribbon Celebration - Leanne Morgan on stage Pink Ribbon Celebration - Jim Brickman on stage I got the news from Leanne last night at the 4th annual Pink Ribbon Celebration. I was fortunate to attend the event as a guest of Dr. Tim Dambro of the Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center. Leanne was a featured entertainer along with musical acts Jim Brickman with Luke McMaster and Margo Rey with Grant Garland. The keynote speaker was Barbara Dooley. Mrs. Dooley’s inspirational speech ended with a sing-along of the Stevie Wonder song “I Just Called to Say I Love You.” I made sure to call my mother on the way home. She is a ten-year breast cancer survivor.
