Oak Ridge Civic Ballet Association - The Nutcracker 2012 - rehearsal It looked like one of the ballerinas had dipped her foot in Nickelodeon slime. In reality, Kylee Haskell was using a neon green resistance band to stretch her toes before dancing. One of her fellow dancers used a blue band.

The Oak Ridge Civic Ballet Association has asked me to reprise the role I played in last year’s production of “The Nutcracker.” As the Governor, I drink too much during the party scene and dance wildly across the stage. My two performances are at 7:00 p.m. on November 17 and 2:00 p.m. on November 18 at the ORHS Performing Arts Center.

At Sunday’s rehearsal, petite ballerina Sarah Jett filled in as my partner while I attempted to re-learn the “sober” dance steps that precede the champagne toast. Although it turned out to be unnecessary, Sarah wore her cross-trainer shoes just in case I stepped on her feet.
