NASCAR has never been one of my strong points. I knew so little about racing that I thought Bristol Motor Speedway was in Bristol, Virginia. It’s actually in Bristol, Tennessee.

Last summer, a friend at church invited me to go with him to the Food City 250 or maybe it was the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200. I don’t know. I couldn’t go because the races happened to fall on the same weekend that I had to take Frank Jr. back to college. This past Friday night, the same friend re-invited me to the Bristol race coming up in August.

On Monday afternoon, I was shooting a few segments for SMOMOtv. For the last segment, I was asked to intro the footage that Taz Cable had recorded over the weekend at Bristol. He jotted a few quick notes and I quickly memorized the names Elliott Sadler and Brad Keselowski.

Niiiice! The Girl Scouts are camping out at Bristol Motor Speedway to celebrate their 100th birthday, which is this year. There are several celebrations happening all around the East Tennessee area throughout the anniversary year, but that is a favorite among the girls!

Anytime you want to go to a race, let Mike know. Bush’s sponsors a car. It was not too long ago that Bush Bros. celebrated 100 years of business in Knoxville, too. They have a neat Visitor’s Center that is becoming a local attraction, although I have yet to see it.
