Walter States

March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction 2011 - Chef Walter Lambert and Frank Murphy Chef Walter Lambert posed for another picture with me on Sunday night. I joked that it was our annual tradition, which wasn’t far from the truth. Once again, he was a judge at the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction.

I told Chef Walter that I have enjoyed watching him make cookies on Fridays for the past few weeks. He told my wife and me about his grandmother’s ginger cookie recipe, which he will probably feature on the noon news this week or next. He had tinkered with it, substituting fresh ginger for powdered. Chef Walter then asked if we had seen the peanut butter and jelly bars he made last Friday. I had but my wife hadn’t.

I told Chef Walter about a recipe for gooey butter cookies that I found online over the weekend. I am eager to try them this Christmas, as well as some pumpkin cookies from a recipe that I got from a coworker. The hard part will be deciding which of our traditional Christmas cookies to drop from the menu this year. How do you choose?

So lemon cake mix was better than yellow cake mix? Thanks for the tip! You should making try the cracker candy and cappuccino cookies that my wife makes. Look for the links in the first paragraph of the December 6 blog post.
