What’s the Rushmore?

Seriously? A lawyer named Scott Irgang was featured on the local news in South Dakota on Saturday for visiting all 50 states by the age of 50. Hmm… where have I heard of that before?

The 46 states I've visited as of 2010 If you’ve read this blog with any regularity, there’s a good chance you know about my quest to visit all 50 states. I was in Alaska for the summer solstice in 2001 and realized that I had been to about half the states, including Alaska and Hawaii. For the past ten years, I have made a concerted effort to fill in the blank spots on my map.

Irgang graduated from high school a year before I did. He is also from the New York area, although I’m from Westchester and he’s from Queens. There’s a good chance that he might be a Mets fan like me. His final two states were the Dakotas. My final four includes the Dakotas.

As my wife and I plan our trip for this summer, we have to decide which state will be my 50th. The most recent version of our route has Nebraska as the finale. Should I alert the Omaha media?
