Welcome to the Nun Show

Fr. Michael Woods on stage with Nonie Newton-Breen during a performance of "Late Nite Catechism" at the All Saints Adult Social "Late Nite Catechism" props - chair made with broken rulers and jar of confiscated candy (look closely for the airline liquor bottle) As you may have seen in my backstage video yesterday, Nonie Newton-Breen, the actress who played Sister, said that “Fr. Mike is gonna get it” during her performance of “Late Nite Catechism” at the All Saints Adult Social. She sensed from the pre-show activities that the pastor might speak out during “class.” At one point she made him sit in a small chair on stage as if he were in the corner of her classroom. Later in the show, she displayed a different small chair made with broken rulers.

Nonie Newton-Breen performs as "Sister" in "Late Night Catechism" at All Saints Adult Social, held at Knoxville Catholic High School on May 13, 2011 Sister kept an eye on Fr. Michael throughout the half-scripted, half-improvised show. At one point she caught him texting. I think even she was surprised. When she confiscated his Blackberry, I knew what I had to do. As Sister walked back to center stage, the phone in her hand vibrated. Sister chastised the priest further and then looked down to read aloud the single word I had sent: “BUSTED!”

WBIR sent a cameraman named Jerry to cover the event.  He interviewed me and shot some b-roll during the first five minutes of the show.
