Nun Commands

Actress Nonie Newton-Breen has been playing “Sister” in “Late Nite Catechism” for 11 years. She also has four other plays in her head, as the franchise has spawned that many sequels.

Before performing at the All Saints Catholic Church Adult Social on Friday night, Nonie took a couple of minutes to chat with me backstage. Although I knew she was an actress and improviser, it still felt a little odd to look her in the eye and say, “Break a leg!”

Awesome footage! Oh! How I wish I could have seen Late Night Catechism AND been at my daughter’s Gold Award function at the Elks Lodge at the same time! I think in my state of healing, choosing the more subdued venue and a night with my daughter was the place where i belonged. It also tells me I need to loosen up a bit. I was ready to have them hire you at KCHS.

Sister was rather new wave. Uncooked rice is pre-made. My grandfather had to kneel on dried breadcrumbs. Those had to be “prepared” for the penitent!

Thanks for the kind words! I’ll have some photos and stories about the performance in tomorrow’s post.
