The $1,400 collected during the bake sale at West Town Mall on Sunday will be added to Marc Anthony’s fundraising total for Star 102.1’s Dancing with the Knoxville Stars. All the money goes to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Since I do commercials for Food City, I asked them to donate a sheet cake, which we sold by the slice.
My wife purchased two cakes. She used dental floss to slice a Peanut Butter Delite from Sandy’s Cakes before taking it to work to share with her colleagues. We sampled a slice to make sure it was as delicious as it looks.
I invited Chef Rachel Sue Reagan of Touch of Love Catering to make a donation. We met last year at a Healthy Living Cook-Off. She stayed for the duration of the bake sale and wrote a blog post about it. As a gift for me, my wife bought one of Rachel’s banana walnut cranberry cake with peanut butter icing topped with walnuts. I should have put the whole thing in the freezer but had to have a taste right away. We cut out a small corner piece (it was fantastic) and froze the rest for future decadence.
